Why Do Many People Fail In MLM (Multi Level Marketing)?
Why do the majority of Multi Level Marketing Businesses fail? (97% according to industry statistics). Well there are many reasons but the main reason is down to a lack of Qualified leads and prospects. This usually results from a lack of effective marketing training. Most MLM organizations provide lots of training. However, this is usually geared towards getting distributors 'hyped' up and in the right psychological state. Most distributors are trained in outdated marketing strategies and this leads to business failure.
Instead, It ends to be left up to the 'sponsor' or 'upline' to deliver specific detail on particular methods. Here is where another problem arises. Sponsors can only teach what they know and what has worked for them. This information has often been passed down over years from one generation of distributors to the next. It may have worked decades ago but they are often totally obsolete in today's marketplace. Unless people are extrovert characters or extraordinary persuaders/ communicators then they struggle with the concepts such as striking up conversations with random strangers in shopping malls etc. They will ultimately be doomed for failure. During my time in MLM I was partly responsible for this situation. I lacked any real IT skills and chose to ignore these areas. As for my new distributors I trained them in what I did. This included Handing out fliers in the street, conducting surveys in shopping malls and striking up conversations with total strangers that moved within 3 feet of me! I have some friends who have worked in call centers. The work is so grim that often on the first day of work new employees have been known to ask for directions to the toilet. With this they excuse themselves, take the opportunity to walk straight out of the building never to be seen at their desks again! Before joining an MLM company it is vital that you carry out some research and check what type of marketing systems they promote and that will be trained in. Ask questions about what marketing they do and if they make one mention of 'writing a list' contacting your 'warm market' or pitching anyone and everyone that you meet - make a polite excuse to visit the loo and run a mile!!! The Internet and particular WEB 2.0 technology have radically changed the MLM prospecting landscape for good. The gulf between those who embrace these opportunities and those who ignore them will widen. The reason that Internet Marketing has become such a hot topic is because there are over 1.4 Billion people who have direct access to the Internet today and this is growing at an alarming rate. If an organization does not have a strong Internet marketing division behind them they will find it increasingly difficult to compete. The only question left is this - Are you going to take the time needed to learn and implement some of these new opportunities. Or are you going to continue like the Osterich with it's head stuck in the sand heading for failure, by denying that they even exist?
