Real Talk Dave Burke: Debt Elimination Workshops Sound Fishy
Ever listen to the Saturday Real Talk radio program about debt elimination workshops? Sounds mighty fishy. Dave Burke hosts, and Colorado's KHOW station broadcasts it from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. My car radio is always tuned to KHOW, and if I'm driving on Saturday during this time, I am hearing Dave Burke's Real Talk program. It's interesting to listen to and alleviates boredom from driving. Dave Burke's Real Talk program consists of him conversing with some other guy about -- in a nutshell -- how utterly insane people must be for taking years to pay off debts, and for "burning cash on interest every month." Dave Burke and his Real Talk cohort go about how Americans are nuts for being in debt. Real Talk goes on and on about how they can teach you how to pay off an entire mortgage in a few years "without changing your lifestyle."
After listening just a short while to Real Talk, you'll be almost convinced, or maybe thoroughly convinced, that you're a complete fool for having credit card debt and a mortgage. Real Talk and Dave Burke might even convince you that there "is a way" to live debt free within a few years, no matter what you currently owe. Dave Burke and his Real Talk pep talks might convince listeners that they're absolute idiots for "burning cash on interest" every month and not having money left over and being in debt. Real Talk's debt elimination workshop will reportedly teach you how to "wipe out" all your debt. Dave Burke continually uses the words "wipe out." Instead of "burning cash every month on interest, " you will have tons left over. You'll never be in debt again. Real Talk and Dave Burke continually harp on the idea that it's stupid to have mortgage and credit card debt, and that no matter what station you are at in life, you can "wipe out all debt, " and on and on and on Dave Burke and his Real Talk companion go. But here's the most amazing thing about Real Talk.It's a two hour program and not once does Dave Burke mention how his debt elimination program works! Instead, at what seems like fixed intervals, Dave Burke and his Real Talk sidekick insist that you show up at the free debt elimination workshop, where they will, allegedly, explain how to wipe out an entire mortgage and all debt within a few years without changing your lifestyle. Week after week, Real Talk Dave Burke does this. Instead, why doesn't he take all that radio time he spends blabbering about how "insane" it is to have debt, and use it to explain his program? Why must people drive way out to Timbuktu to sit through a seminar, especially when Real Talk fails to even hint what will be covered in the seminar as far as how to wipe out debt? I mean, what is it: real estate investment? Gold investment? Melaleuca? I'm driving and thinking, "Shut up already and just %#$%$ EXPLAIN IT!" Instead, Dave Burke melodramatically exclaims what his program ISN'T (yeah, I think he says it's not MLM). Hey, I don't want to know what it isn't. I want to know what it IS! If someone owes $100, 000 on a mortgage and can barely afford the monthly payments at 6 % interest, there is no bloody way this person could pay this debt off "within a few years" without 1) changing his lifestyle, and 2) owing someone the same amount of money.
